Learning through playing cards in Maths has never been so fun and easy! Such manipulatives were an instant hit with the students and offered various options to reach different academic levels.
Lately, we have been doing lots of games with playing cards. Here are some of the activities that we have done so far:
Forming six different 3-digit numbers – The children were told to choose 3 different playing cards and to write six different 3-digit numbers using such cards on their mini-whiteboards. Finally they were encouraged to put these numbers in order, starting with the smallest.

One Less and One More – The children were told to choose 3 different playing cards and to form any 3-digit number that they like, using such cards. Then, in groups, they were encouraged to say a number that is one less and one more than the number they formed using the playing cards.

The boys simply enjoyed such activities!
