Rev.Fr Mark Ellul

Fr. Mark is the eldest of two siblings born to Mario and Yvonne nee Bartolo. He hails from Qormi where he followed his Primary education at St. Sebastian`s Primary School and his Secondary education at Handaq Junior Lyceum. He then followed post-secondary Education at Gan Frangisk Abela Junior college where he studied the sciences at Advanced level. These same subjects were read in the B.Ed. Degree which was pursued at the University of Malta. After graduating he taught Biology at the Junior College in both Intermediate and Advanced level. He held this teaching position during his pre-Seminary formation and also in the intermediate year of Seminary studies. From the post-secondary year to the joining of the Seminary community, Fr. Mark was an active member in the Diocesan Youth Commission where he was a leader of one of the formation groups and also animated a number of summer camps and youth fairs.

During the Seminary formation years, Fr. Mark was awarded two other degrees by the University of Malta, namely B.A. in Theology and Human Studies, and SThB. He also read for the first year of the Licentiate in Pastoral Ministry at the same University. After his ordination on the 23rd of June 2010 he was assigned the role of Deputy Headmaster of the Archbishop`s Seminary. During these years, he also read for a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. The dissertation for these studies was entitled Investigating ethos and values: in what ways do students feel that the school impacts on their personal formulation of ethos and values in a church school environment.

Fr. Mark is currently reading for a PhD in Educational Leadership with the Institute of Education, University of London. His area of interest is how schools impact on character development and leadership development.

Fr. Mark is also a Canon regular at the Basilica of Our Lady of Victory Senglea where he serves his priestly duties.

In July 2012 Fr Mark was assigned the role of headmaster of the Archbishop`s Seminary School.
