Art is a very interesting subject and it is also one of my favourites! We always soar with our imagination and try to be as creative as possible. There are regular art competitions offering the winner great prizes. One such example is the peace competition, which enabled many students to paint drawings related to peace, such as peace doves on national flags. More competitions are expected to take place in the future. Art isn’t a competition in itself but many people tend to become competitive while trying to make the best creation within the time limit available.

Art isn’t just paintings; in fact we had some lessons making pottery out of Maltese blue clay. In these lessons our Art teacher introduced us to the interesting world of pottery. We learned facts such as that pottery was used to make pots and other cooking utensils. The most interesting part of these lessons was when we went hands on in producing our own creations. Some of us made copies of historical artifacts such as the Phoenician Cippus, while others included temple period spirals in their creations. Among the artifacts produced by us were: kettles, bowls and mugs, all made out of clay!
We really enjoyed making things out of clay. It was a new experience that I never thought would be so pleasant. While people like me consider art as a fun little hobby, I admire those who have courage to take art as a MAIN subject. I wish to encourage all those who never bothered about art to explore this wonderful subject.
