For Year 6 students, one of the Easter holidays’ assignments was researching about the different layers of the Earth as part of the Science theory projects. This topic raised a lot of questions and curiosity amongst students. All students were engaged and worked hard to create informative PowerPoint presentations, charts and creative 3D models as shown in the pictures. The cool thing about Science learning is that it describes what’s happening all around us, all the time. Sometimes, though, kids find it hard to connect what they know about science to the real world. Therefore, this research helped in fostering critical thinking and analytical skills through hands-on learning. We were able to incorporate Math reasoning through exploring the difference in the thickness of the four layers. Students proudly presented their projects to the whole classroom and answered questions asked by their peers.
