In the Science lesson about Structures of the Earth with Year 4.1, after explaining and watching some videos about the topic, a model was built using playdough. Six different colours of playdough were used: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and brown. These represent the four layers (inner core, outer core, mantle and crust) together with the sea and land. The students started with the inner core and worked outwards. After the model was finished a part of the sphere was cut out using a plastic knife so that a cross-section could be seen. The students really enjoyed this activity.
