Year three students have been learning Mathematics through play by making use of their tangible resources found in their Mathematics Toolkit. Learning through play develops critical thinkers with reasoning skills and problem solving abilities. It also improves their self-confidence skills as they start making sense of the world around them.
During this lesson, the students made use of their real coins to partition a 3-digit number. Students were only allowed to use the three different coins shown in order to form the number required. Students really enjoyed themselves during this hands-on activity.
