At this time last year, our EkoSkola students took part in the European Week for Waste Reduction which was organised by Wasteserv. This annual event aims to bring together schools, companies, NGOs and citizens to promote awareness on sustainable resources and waste management.
Year 7 and 8 students on the EkoSkola Committee took time to explain to the secondary houses how we could reduce, reuse and recycle our waste; as well as discuss initiatives to help us become more sustainable. The students delved into the discussion of waste generation and showed awareness that it is a massive problem in our society. They went on to mention different kinds of waste, such as plastic, paper, food and water. They ended the session by brainstorming ideas on how and why we should separate our waste.
This event was a fruitful one and the EkoSkola committee is looking forward to continue their journey into environmental awareness.
