Everyone knows that hand washing is indispensable as it aids with the removal of germs, thus preventing one from getting sick. Keeping in mind the situation we found ourselves in due to the pandemic, handwashing has been given much more importance! One of our Science lessons was about this topic. To help the Year 1 boys understand that in order to remove germs one has to wash his hands with soap and water, we carried out a simple experiment. Each child filled a small container with water and sprinkled in some ground pepper. They then squirted a drop of hand soap on their finger and dipped it in the water. The soap repelled the pepper, which represented the germs. This activity really engaged the children and also helped them to better understand the importance of handwashing!
