Picasso Faces

contributed by Ms. Joanna Giordmaina, Year 1.2

During our Science lessons in the first term we focus on ourselves, our body and different parts of the body, senses, etc. In one particular lesson, we focused on the parts of the face and their function.  In order to consolidate this, we decided to use Art, specifically Picasso faces.  We introduced the boys to Picasso and showed them some of the faces painted by this famous artist. The children could point at different parts of the face and noticed that these parts looked as if they were cut out from different faces and pasted to create a new picture.  Then it was the boys’ turn to experiment with this idea.  The boys tried to make the best use of space and colour. They did come up with some very nice pictures! Well done boys!
