{"id":2589,"date":"2022-08-03T09:42:39","date_gmt":"2022-08-03T08:42:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.maltaseminary.org\/wp\/?p=2589"},"modified":"2022-08-04T09:41:32","modified_gmt":"2022-08-04T08:41:32","slug":"making-soap-bubbles-copy-copy-copy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.maltaseminary.org\/?p=2589","title":{"rendered":"Participation and Win in Code.Sprint 2022 national contest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"text-align:right\"><em>contributed by Mr. Andre&#8217; Gatt, Teacher of Computing<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2018, <strong>code.sprint<\/strong> is a national coding contest for students studying Computing at various levels, namely secondary, post-secondary and at undergraduate level. This year the competition was also opened to established software developers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main objective of the\ncompetition is to gauge the participants problem solving capabilities, logical\nthinking and programming skills in a time-based competition. The challenge is\nan open book exercise and the work is judged against a set of established\ncriteria. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prizes available for the 3 contestants at all levels are paid or partially paid internationally recognised study and mentorship programs, cash prizes and more. Students participating within the secondary category can also achieve an MQF level-3 accreditation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At secondary level, participants from Maltese and Gozitan state schools, independent schools and church schools are invited to compete. Participants first compete in a qualifiers round and after the submitted work is judged the best students then compete in the finals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the 2020\/2021 scholastic year, Year 11 students from our school were encouraged to compete and <strong>Jacques Xuereb<\/strong>,<strong> Alvin Grima <\/strong>and<strong> Matthias Abdilla Castillo <\/strong>made it to the finals. This result was very encouraging and gave us energy to go again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this year\u2019s competition, our very own <strong>Reuben Mifsud<\/strong> achieved top spot in the qualifiers round while <strong>Kieran Agius<\/strong> and <strong>Nicholai Camilleri<\/strong> were tied for <strong>second<\/strong>. The top 10 participants than competed for the top 3 spots and <strong>Kieran Agius <\/strong>placed first whilst Reuben and Nicholai tied for 4<sup>th<\/sup> place. <strong>Well done boys!
