After\nvarious failed attempts to try to find a qualified ICT teacher for the Primary\nschool, the School Leadership Team opted to implement a curriculum for \nSTEAM as an alternative. This was truly a blessing in disguise! A lesson in\nSTEAM is made up of aspects from Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and\nMathematics. This approach has both strengthened our attempt to implement an\nintegrated curriculum at school as well as help see the practical side of\nsubject content through various hands-on activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In\nthese first few weeks of this scholastic year, our school has participated in\nthe EU Code Week 2019 with various successful activities. Some students programmed\nrobots while playing Maths games or to find their way towards the homebase\nthrough a maze; others created their own game and interactive stories through\ncoding. The school has also invested in new resources for STEAM thanks to a\ndonation from some parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Analysing\na problem, attempting to find the best solution and reflecting on the method\nemployed are key areas to help our students develop into critical learners who\nactively control their own learning. This also helps them to develop a deeper\nunderstanding of the knowledge they learn and to develop 21st century learning\nskills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
