Visit to the Domus Romana

Educational Outing

Tue 12 May 2009

On Tuesday 12th May, 2009, the 3rd formers went on an outing to the Domus-Romana, which is situated in Rabat. There we met Mr Paul Saliba and the guide who explained to us all about the archaeological finds that we saw there.

The Domus Romana has some of the finest and oldest mosaic compositions of the Western Mediterranean, like those of Pompeii and Sicily. They were discovered in 1881 just outside Mdina in the remains of a rich and sumptuously decorated town house of the Roman period. This museum was one of the very first to be opened to the public.  On this outing,we were accompanied by Ms G Fsadni, Ms C Custo, Ms J Cini and Mr J Mercieca. Thanks to all of them.
